Kelantan hoping to maintain form after international break

Kelantan coach Peter Butler believes his Super League pacesetters can do much better when they return from the international break on Feb 4.

The Red Warriors came under heavy criticism after losing the season-opening Charity Shield tie to Negri Sembilan. But they have since turned their season around by winning four and drawing one of the five matches to remain the only unbeaten side in the league.

“I’m happy to see Kelantan leading the Super League standings. The players are slowly finding their form,” said Butler. “My plan is to look at our situation after 10 matches. But it’s good to see them doing well at the half way mark.”

The Englishman said Kelantan still have to work on their finishing.

“Our execution in the final third is still not sharp enough. It’s something we need to work on,” he said after watching his team beat bottom side Kuala Lumpur 3-0 on Saturday.

“My players are a bit gung-ho at the moment. They must learn to tone down a bit when they go on the attack. They must work hard as a team.”
