FA of Malaysia deputy president Tengku Abdullah Ahmad Shah may be an ardent Arsenal fan but he will be cheering for the national team at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.
"I've been supporting Arsenal for many years now but my support tomorrow (today) will only be for the national team.
"I reckon our local Arsenal fans will do the same. I hope our team will perform well," said Tengku Abdullah at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday.
Tengku Abdullah said the match is important for Malaysia's preparation for the World Cup Qualifying second round two-leg tie against Singapore. The first leg is in Singapore on July 23.
"K. Rajagobal (national coach) will get a chance to gauge his team before the qualifiers. Our players must not waste this opportunity to make an impact and impress the coach. I want them to learn and pick up pointers from the match. I hope our players will showcase their true ability and also enjoy the game."
He said Rajagobal will also get to enrich his knowledge on every aspect of the game from today's match.
"It will definitely help him in preparing his team against Singapore."
However, Tengku Abdullah advised players to avoid injuries today.
"Our main focus is the World Cup qualifiers. We cannot afford to lose players through injuries. I hope our players will avoid getting injured at all cost," he added.
