Coach calls up 13 new faces for trials with Harimau Muda

PETALING JAYA: National Under-23 coach Ong Kim Swee has roped in 13 new faces for selection trials with the Harimau Muda A squad for their training-cum-playing stint in Slovakia this month.

Twenty-nine players have been named for the 12-day centralised training at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya from Monday before the playing tour of Slovakia from July 23-Aug 28.
The Harimau Muda A squad provide the bulk of the players for the final round of the Asian Zone Olympic qualifiers, which will kick off in September.

Among the new faces are Mohd Azrif Nasrulhaq and Mohd Khairul Akhyar from newly-crowned Premier League champions PKNS. Two Harimau Muda B boys – Muhd Nazmi Faiz and Muhd Syazwan Tajuddin – have also been called up.

The others are Famirul Asraf Nasrulhaq (Pahang), Ahmad Hazwan Bakri (K. Lumpur), Azrul Azmi, Mohd Syazwan Zainon (Felda United), Mohd Rozaimi Abdul Rahman (Sabah), Mohd Syazwan Mohd Roslan (Perak), Mohd Faizal Abu Bakar (Kedah), Mohd Zubir Mohd Azmi (Terengganu) and Mohd Izuan Solahuddin (Kelantan).

Kim Swee will have to leave out four of his key players from the Slovakia stint as they will don national colours for the Asian Zone World Cup second round qualifying match against Singapore on July 23 (away) and July 28 (home). They are Mohd Muslim Ahmad, Mohd Fadhli Shas, Mahalli Jasuli and K. Gurusamy.
