Kelantan can depend on the juniors in future

Kelantan have dependable junior players who can be fielded in the future provided they fine-tune their skills and get exposure playing with foreign teams, the state's chief coach Datuk M. Karathu said here.

The state was not short of young players, going by the performance of the team in several friendly matches including last night's encounter with Pelita Jaya FC of Indonesia, he said.

"I am most happy with the performance of the young players we have fielded in several friendly matches. Nevertheless, they have to rectify their weaknesses, especially in attack where they are lacking," he said after the match at the Sultan Muhammed IV Stadium here.

Kelantan and Pelita Jaya drew 1-1, with Mohd Azian Solahuddin scoring for the home team in the 72nd minute and Joko Sasongko equalising for the visitors in the 90th.

Several key players of Kelantan were not fielded in the match.

The Kelantan players will take a break of several days before starting their training for the Malaysia Cup which begins after Aidilfitri at the end of next month, Karathu said.
