Chelsea's ability to handle speed on counter-attacks will be put to the test when they face a Malaysian Selection at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil today. Coach Ong Kim Swee has named 12 youngsters from the Olympic team in his 21-strong squad in a bid to inject pace into the Malaysian side.
Every player will get a chance to take to the field although Kim Swee is expected to start with his nine senior players in the first half.
"These 21 players are the best that are available (outside the national team). I decided not to use the new players called up to the Olympic as they are not ready for this match.
"They will get better exposure when the Olympic team go on the trip to Slovakia immediately after this game," said Kim Swee before yesterday's training session at the National Stadium.
Kim Swee's side will not be overly defensive with seniors Hairuddin Omar and Amri Yahyah expected to start in attack.
But he does expect his wingers to get forward using their pace and get behind the Chelsea defence.
"The formation and variation of our play will depend on our strengths. We have to be careful as we are playing a big club who have been in the Champions League semi-finals the last few seasons.
"We will depend on the experience of the seniors and the speed of the young players," added Kim Swee.
