Negeri Sembilan coach targets Malaysia Cup quarter final

Negeri Sembilan coach Mohd Azraai Khor Abdullah said he does not want to place too high a target for the current Malaysia Cup season even though he remains confident of his team's calibre to go far.

"I will try my best. I do not want to put unrealistic targets considering several of our leading players are recovering from injuries. However, I hope we can at least reach the quarter-final. After that we will play on a game by game strategy.
"It is of no use if we place targets which we cannot achieve as it will give us undue pressure," Azraai said here today.

His confidence was based on several leading players who are injured, including Norhafiz Zamani Misbah who is recovering, except Zaquan Adha Abdul Razak.
"When all the main players have recovered from injuries, we will at least have a choice. Not before that, as finding the first choice players has become a headache for me," he said.

Since taking over from Wan Jamak Wan Hassan in March, Azraai's squad had been plagued by injuries to key players. The former Kedah and national coach was identified to replace Wan Jamak in an effort to revive its tarnished image after several disappointing games in the M-League.

On his preparation of the squad for the coming Malaysia Cup, Azraai said they had played a few friendly matches during the two-month break.
"We are in the process of getting three players from another team on loan to further strengthen the team," he said.

Negeri Sembilan ended the 2011 M-League by defeating Perlis 2-0 here last night, a result that saw Negeri Sembilan collect 32 points to finish 8th among the 14-team competition.
