Singapore arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday in high spirits, but the same cannot be said about their fans. Only 358 tickets out of the 2,000 allocated to Singapore were sold until Sunday's deadline.
Many are reluctant to travel to watch Singapore in Thursday's return leg as the match falls on a working day.
But the Singapore side, who defeated Malaysia 5-3 in last weekend's first leg, are unperturbed as they would rather concentrate on preparing for the match at the 90,000 capacity National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Coach Raddy Avramovic will need to make adjustments in his leaky defence which has been made worse with the suspension of first choice right-back Ismail Yunos.
Ismail's absence will be a huge blow to Singapore as the defender did well to stop speedy Malaysian S. Kunanlan from terrorising them on the left flank before he was sent off in the second half.
Ruzaini Zainal is expected to take up Ismail's position on Thursday.
There were also fears that left-back Juma'at Jantan would be ruled out after suffering a nasty knock on his knee, but a medical scan has proved otherwise.
Avramovic, who was unhappy with his players for allowing Malaysia to score three goals in the first leg, is expected to play a defensive formation to keep their two-goal lead intact.
Singapore centre-back Safuwan Baharudin said his team are ready for Malaysia.
"We won't buckle under pressure. I know it will be different at Bukit Jalil, but we are prepared," said the 19-year-old, adding that Singapore need to play cautiously on match day.
Avramovic made several changes from the side that beat Malaysia in the first leg. Besides Ismail, the others dropped are third choice goalkeeper Muhd Ridhuan Barudin and striker Andrew Tan.
The team checked into a hotel in Petaling Jaya yesterday before heading to the Maybank Training Centre in Bangi for their first training session.
The squad -- Goalkeepers: Izwan Mahbud, Lionel Lewis, Chan Yuhui.
