Felda United FC have bolstered their strikeforce for the Malaysia Cup campaign by hiring three national back-up squad players – S. Sivanesan, K. Ravindran (Harimau Muda A) and D. Saarvindran (Harimau Muda B).
Head coach E. Elavarasan said the trio’s presence would add more competition in the team as well as give him more attacking options.
“We should have better attacking flair with these boys around,” he said.
The club side had failed to make an impact in the recently-concluded Super League, finishing 11th in the 14-team competition this year.
Felda have been drawn in Group C of the Malaysian Cup football competition with defending champions Kelantan, Johor FC and Sarawak.
And Elavarasan is hoping that the trio’s inclusion would help his team to give the big guns a run for their money.
The trio, who have undergone training stints in Slovakia with the national Under-21 squad last year, are expected to feature in Elavarasan’s line-up as the club bid to win a place in the knockout stage of the Malaysia Cup competition, which will begin on Sept 6.
The club side can also count on seasoned players like strikers Mohd Farderin Kadir, Liew Kit Kong, Mohd Nizam Abu Bakar, Mohd Nizaruddin Yusof, Mohd Zamri Chin, midfielders Azi Shahril Azmi, Mohd Lot Abu Hassan, Juzaili Samion and K. Rajan as well as defenders Mohd Kaironissam Sahabuddin and Ramesh Lai and goalkeeper Mohd Hamsani Ahmad.
Felda are also hoping to make amends in the Malaysia Cup after their dismal run last season, when they finished bottom of the group with only one point behind Selangor, Perlis and T-Team.
