The National Under-23 football team will be eyeing their third victory in a row when they take on Hungarian First Division side Honved at the Bozsik Stadion in Budapest tonight (11pm).
The team, currently on a training-cum-playing stint in Slovakia to prepare for the final round of the Asian Zone Olympic qualifiers, started on a positive note by beating Slovakian Division Two club Bodva Moldava 1-0 on July 26. In their second match on July 30, they defeated Slovakian Division Three side MFK Topvar Topolcany 2-1.
However, the team under coach Ong Kim Swee, can expect a tougher challenge against Honved who are currently fifth in the 16-team Hungarian League.
Honved have collected nine points from three wins and a loss and they have a strong tradition in Hungary’s football history. Ferenc Puskas, the nation’s greatest footballer, once played for the club.
