Perak boosted by new players

Perak has recruited three new players on loan to strengthen their squad for the Malaysia Cup next month.

The FA is determined to put up a strong side despite the ban on five of its players by FAM.

Perak are drawn together with Sabah, Kedah and Premier League side Johor in Group A.
Among the new signings are Failee Ghazali, 24, who played for USM FC and scored 12 goals. The others are Rafiuddin Roddin, 22, from Young Tigers and Hafisizuan Salehuddin, 24, from Perlis.

The Perak team have been crippled with the suspension of top striker Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli, captain, Shahrulnizam Mustapha, Mohd Syazwan Roslan, Azmeer Yusoff and goalkeeper Mohd Nasril Nourdin.

Perak have a poor record against Kedah, to whom they lost 3-1 and drew 0-0, while Sabah downed them 2-1 after the team went unbeaten for seven matches. They drew 1-1 in the second round. Johor finished fourth in the Premier League table.

Perak failed to make it to the quarter-finals under Raja Azlan Shah Raja Shoib last year.

They qualified for the Malaysia Cup final in 2007 but lost 3-0 to Kedah. Perak last became Malaysia Cup champions in 2000 when they defeated Negri Sembilan 2-0.
