Perak wants stadium used for Malaysia Cup

The Perak Football Association (Pafa) is confident the Perak Stadium will continue to be the pitch for the Malaysia Cup which kicks off on Sept 9.

Pafa secretary Abdul Aziz Yeop Jamaluddin said the association believed the stadium could meet the specifications and standards of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

Pafa and the Ipoh City Council had provided all of FAM''s requirements before this, he said, when commenting on FAM technical officer Zainal Abidin Yaacob''s recent inspection of the stadium.

"The FAM technical officer has made detailed examination when visiting the stadium, including changing rooms for players and facilities for referees, media, medical team, as well as aspects on safety, floodlights and so on.

"FAM is also taking a serious view of the field surface and turf in the visit," he told reporters here today.

Also present during the inspection were the council''s Engineering deputy director Khairul Anuar Lodin, and stadium wardens Jamil Zakaria and Abdul Rais Saarani.

Abdul Aziz said Pafa and the council were improving stadium facilities for the comfort of players, referees, officers and spectators for the coming Malaysia Cup season.

"We are confident the Perak Stadium will be the main venue for the Buffalo Squad, as in the past, to continue as host ground," he said.
