Sarawak start selling tickets for Malaysia Cup home matches

Ticket prices for Sarawak's home matches in the Malaysia Cup competition at the 20,000-seat State Stadium have been set at RM10, RM15 and RM35, Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) secretary-general Abdullah Julaihi said Thursday.

He said the RM10 ticket was for seats without a roof terrace, RM15 for seats in the roof terrace and RM35 for the limited grandstand seats.

"Students need to furnish proof, such as a student card, to enable FAS to allow them to watch the match at a special price or free of charge," he told Bernama.

Abdullah said Sarawak's home matches would be played at night as floodlights which met the standards set by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) had been installed at the stadium.
"We are awaiting clearance from the FAM to play at night, and the inspection would be held one week before our first home match on Sept 6," he said.

To avoid any technical hiccup, he said, Sarawak would play a friendly match against neighbour Sabah on Aug 23 at the State Stadium.

"The match has two objectives: one to assess our preparation for the Malaysia Cup competition and the other, to evaluate our readiness to hold night matches at the State Stadium," he said.

"We hope that the fans can come out in full force when we are playing at night because, previously, when we played the Premier League matches in the afternoon the response was lukewarm," he said.

Sarawak will host defending champion Kelantan on Sept 6, Johor FC on Sept 13 and KL Felda United on Sept 24, and be away at KL Felda United on Sept 10, Kelantan on Sept 18 and Johor FC on Sept 27.
