Terengganu believes speed and team work will finish off Selangor

Terengganu captain Marzuki Yusof  believes that speed and team work are the two factors that can help them finish off Selangor and take them into the Malaysia Cup final.

Terengganu, who beat Selangor 2-0 away at the Shah Alam Stadium on Tuesday in the semi-final, first-leg tie, will host the return leg at their Sultan Ismail Stadium tomorrow.

“We have a great chance to reach the final after our fantastic performance in the first-leg,” he said.

“We will be playing in front of our home fans, so the advantage is definitely with us.

“But we cannot be complacent or the Red Giants will surely punish us. We must continue to play a fast paced game and work together as a team.

“We must ensure that they have no space to attack.”

Marzuki was full of praise for his team-mates, especially striker Abdul Manaf Mamat “for rising to the occasion despite his father’s death”.

Abdul Manaf scored both the goals in the first-leg win.

“I look up to him (Abdul Manaf) because he is a consummate professional,” said Marzuki.

“He is a good role model to the rest of us … as well as a symbol of inspiration for us.”

The skipper also hailed his coach Irfan Bakti as a master tactician.

“I have no doubt that the coach will come up with something effective that will enable us to beat Selangor again,” said Marzuki.

“He has guided us this far and, if we stay focused, we will be able to reach the final and win the Cup.”
