Terengganu coach warns team not to get over confident against Kelantan

While likening the Malaysia Cup quarter-final clash between Terengganu and Kelantan tomorrow night to a repeat of the FA Cup final, Terengganu chief coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim wanted his charges to capitalise on the home ground advantage.

He said Terengganu needed to throw everything they have to collect three points from the match to ensure that there would be less pressure on them when they travel to Kota Baharu for the away match on Oct 14.

"Don't be overconfident, reduce errors and don't give the opponents any opportunities," he told his players.

Terengganu ended an 11-year drought to lift the FA Cup last season when they edged Kelantan 2-1 on June 12.

Irfan Bakri, however, admitted that Kelantan were a great team and spurred by the unwavering support of their supporters, they could rise to the occasion.

Meanwhile, Terengganu captain Marzuki Yusof said his team-mates were in good condition and ready to meet Kelantan but he hoped none of them would be injured at the last minute.

As the match will be highly charged, he reminded supporters of both teams at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium here not to be too emotional to prevent the match from being interrupted.

Marzuki said provocative actions by supporters from either teams could disrupt the momentum of the match and would reflect poor sporting spirit.

"I hope all supporters will behave themselves and not to become fanatical as it will create an uncomfortable atmosphere as we want to ensure that the match proceeds smoothly," he said.
