Malaysian players to travel to stadium in armoured vehicles for final in SEA Games

The Malaysian Under-23 football team will be ferried to the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan for the final today in armoured vehicles (Barracudas).

Team manager Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said they have requested the organisers to find a better way to transport the team but has yet to get a favourable reply.

“We have asked them to find a better way because it is not good for the sport. This is the third time that a Malaysian team will be travelling either to or from the stadium in an armoured vehicle,” said Hamidin.

In the Suzuki Cup AFF Championships 11 months ago, the national team rode in the Barracudas due to security reasons.

On Thursday, after beating Indonesia 1-0 in the last Group A match, the team were forced to take the Barracudas due to the more than 100,000 hostile fans at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
