Former Singapore, Kedah, Pahang and Kelantan striker V. Sundramoorthy is set to return to the M-League after a 17-year absence.
The 46-year-old has been appointed coach of the Singapore Lions who will be making their debut in the Super League, which kicks off on Jan 10.
His task is a top-five finish in the League as well as winning one of the two Cup competitions – the prestigious Malaysia Cup or the FA Cup.
Sundramoorthy, who had coached Jurong FC and the Young Lions in the S-League, believes he can achieve the targets set for him and his team.
“It’s a pleasure to return to the M-League after 17 years,” said Sundramoorthy, who will be assisted by former Singapore team-mate Kadir Yahaya.
“We have been given a realistic target by FAS. It’s a good challenge for us, a chance to show what we can do and raise the level of competition to benefit both Singapore and Malaysia.”
Singapore’s return to the M-League was made possible after the FAs of Malaysia and Singapore signed a four-year deal in July.
