This season's Premier League champion PKNS FC, a newcomer to the Super League, targets to be in the top six places in the competition which starts Jan 10.
As Premier League champion, the team qualified for next season's Super League. Its president, Norhisham Mohd Ghouth said the target was realistic.
He said this when introducing the team's players to the media including two imports from France, Micheal Joseph Nicoise and Helmi Loussaief here, today.
The team retained 13 existing players and recruited 12 new faces for next season's Malaysian League including Selangor striker Rudie Ramli.
Coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said he would build team compatibility through two friendlies against Singapore's under 23 Lions XII and Sime Darby FC. The first match is Wednesday at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) and the second match on Dec 31 at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium.
He said the team had, prior to this, played two friendly matches at the pre-season tour against Vietnam's Premier League, FC Saigon.
"We lost the first match 0-1. We won the second match 4-1 and it could be because they were over-confident while our team displayed a strong fighting spirit," he said.
The MBPJ stadium was retained as the main venue of the team for the Malaysia League competition's coming season.
Their first game would be against Johor FC in an away match on Jan 10.
