Official fixture list for M-League delayed due to concern over stadiums

Although the FA of Malaysia will only release the official fixtures on Thursday, the unofficial list drawn up on Tuesday features a block-buster Super League opening match between the newly-formed LionsXII under former Singapore international V. Sundramoorthy and Kelantan at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The delay in releasing the fixtures is due to concern over the availability of venues with Shah Alam Stadium, KLFA Stadium and Larkin Stadium all due for repair works.

"We will conduct final inspections soon before releasing the official fixtures," said FAM competitions committee chairman Datuk Hamidin Amin.

"Early this year, we imposed a rule that requires stadiums to upgrade their floodlights and pitches, up to AFC (Asian Football Confederation) standards.

"With some teams also sharing stadiums, this has created some problems but we are confident we will get the fixtures out by Dec 22."

Another interesting opening fixture sees Negri entertaining Selangor in Paroi while Sarawak mark their return to the Super League with a home game against Kuala Lumpur.
