T-Team signing new players for next season

Zambian striker Zacharia Simukonda has found his way back into Malaysian football after five years.

Chances are, the 35-year-old former Perlis player will be  T-Team's newest foreign signing once he passes his medical.

Coach Yunus Alif said of all the foreign players who came for trials in Kuala Terengganu, Simukonda -- who played for Red Arrows FC in Lusaka, Zambia, this year -- was the most impressive.

"The fact that he used to ply his trade  with Perlis for a couple of years helps as we want someone who is already familiar with the Malaysian brand of football.

"Now we are on the look out for another foreign player, preferably a central defender, to complete our  team for the new season," said Yunus.

He said nine  players from Selangor, Perlis and Terengganu have agreed to join the Kuala Terengganu Football Association team.

They are striker Fadzli Shaari and goalkeeper Iqbal Suhaimi from Selangor, right-back Azmizi Azmi, striker Faiz Subri and left-back Wan Khairul Wan Kamaruddin from Perlis, and striker Wan Mohd Alif Wan Jasmi, defender Hassan Basri and midfielder Zharif Husna from Terengganu.

The players who have left T-Team were Indra Putra Mahayuddin, Norfarhan Mohamad, Azizi Matt Rose, Haris Safwan Mohd Kamal, Subri Sulong, Ismail Abdul Rahman, Rosli Muda, Samsul Kamal Mohamad, Mohd Kamal Rodiarjat Mat Ali, Amzar Junaidi Jalil and Mohd Shazlan Alias.

"It is practically a brand new team that I have to build  although we still have several players from last year including Syamsuri Mustaffa, Zairo Zailani Anuar, Rosdi Talib and  Norfazly Alias."

The coach said striker Mohd Fitri Omar, who joined T-Team as a Malaysia Cup loan signing this season, had also agreed to stay on a permanent basis.

The 2012 season kicks off on Jan 10.
