The joy was short-lived for Nigerian Sibi Gwar who was picked as one of two Terengganu's foreign signings only to be dropped a few hours later.
The 24-year-old striker, who used to play for Niger Tornadoes FC in the Nigerian Premier League, failed to provide proper documents for registration and had to leave Kuala Terengganu without a contract.
But his loss is Mohamadou Suamareh's gain as the last foreign player vacancy was quickly filled by the 19-year-old Gambian striker as yesterday's deadline for players' registration loomed.
Coach Mat Zan Mat Aris said Mohamadou, a former Serrekunda FC player in Gambia, was among the 17 foreign players who turned up for trials.
"We thought he was a little inexperienced compared to Gwar but the young striker was the obvious choice when we could not process the Nigerian's registration," said Mat Zan.
"We are certain that given time, Mohamadoe will become an asset and will combine well with Manaf Mamat and Abdul Hadi Yahya upfront."
Mat Zan is, however, delighted to be reunited with Terengganu's other signing Tercio Nunes Machado, 33, who used to play for KL Plus in the 2007 and 2008 seasons before leaving for Araxa FA in the Brazilian league.
