Terengganu signs players from Brazil and Nigeria

Malaysia Cup runners-up Terengganu have added a touch of samba to their team for next season’s Super League.

The Turtles have decided to sign 33-year-old Brazilian Julio Nunis. The other foreign player
selected is 24-year-old Nigerian Sibi Gwar.

Julio Nunis is an experienced midfielder, having played for Brazilian club Arasa FC. He is no
stranger to Malaysian football as he represented KL Plus in the 2007-2008 season.

As for striker Gwar, he was a member of the Nigerian national junior team and played for
Tournadous FC in the Nigerian League.

Terengganu team manager Datuk Che Mat Jusoh said Julio Nunis and Gwar were selected
after going through a one-month trial.

“We tested 17 players from various countries during our trials and selected the duo,” he said
yesterday.

He added that the decision was made after consulting coach Mat Zan Mat Aris.

Che Mat, who is also the Terengganu Football Association (TFA) president, said the signing of
the two players would further strengthen their side for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)
Cup competition.

In the AFC Cup, Terengganu have been drawn in Group F with Kitchee of Hong Kong, Vietnam’s Song Lam Nghe An and Tampines Rovers of  Singapore.
