Both of Kelantan's foreign signings were on target as the Super League champions went top of the table with a 3-0 win over Kedah at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Star yesterday.
A penalty by Mohammed Ghaddar and substitute Dennis Antwi's stoppage time goal came either side of Norshahrul Idlan Talaha making it 2-0 in the 79th minute against a woeful Kedah side playing with an all-local line up.
Lebanese striker Ghaddar netted his second goal for Kelantan from the spot in the 36th minute after Fauzi Nan tripped Norshahrul in the box before Kedah, yet to score after four games, struck the bar through Faizal Abu Bakar in the 70th minute.
Norshahrul turned Ghanaian Antwi's pass into goal off the far post before Antwi embarrassed Helmi Eliza Elias by dispossessing the Kedah goalkeeper to slot into an empty net three minutes into injury time.
Lamin Conteh struck twice in stoppage time as Perlis responded in fine fashion to allegations of match-fixing when they fought back from two goals down to hold Pahang 2-2 in a Premier League match at the Utama Stadium in Kangar.
Goals by Hafiz Kamal (18th) and Hazuan Daud (46th) appeared to have given Pahang full points but Sierra Leonean Conteh converted a penalty before scoring again a minute later to give Perlis an unlikely point.
The draw however was enough to put Pahang top of the table, a point ahead of Armed Forces whose match against Sime Darby in Selayang was abandoned in the 42nd minute due to heavy rain and lightning.
Forces were leading 2-0 at the time with Marlon Alex James scoring in the fifth and 33rd minutes on a water-logged pitch with the match to be replayed today at the Selayang Stadium.
Elsewhere, S. Venood's 75th minute equaliser earned Universiti Sains Malaysia a 1-1 draw with 10-man Johor Baru City Council at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Muar while former Police import Hillary Echesa of Kenya marked his debut for Muar Municipal Council by scoring a 74th-minute winner in a 2-1 triumph over Betaria at the Hang Tuah Stadium in Malacca.
