Singapore matches to be shown live on pay TV

Singapore's leading pay TV operator (StarHub) and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced the appointment of StarHub as the Official Broadcaster and Principal Sponsor of LionsXII.

As part of the partnership, StarHub will carry all LionsXII contents on its pay TV, online and mobile platforms.

StarHub's comprehensive coverage includes 'live' broadcast of LionsXII matches in the Malaysia Super League (MSL), the Malaysia FA Cup and the Malaysia Cup, starting with the MSL home match against defending champion Kelantan on Jan 10, 2012.

Under the deal, the StarHub logo will also be emblazoned across the front of LionsXII team jerseys in all competitions.

All matches will be shown for free on SuperSports Arena (StarHub TV Channels 112 and 201) and StarHub TV on Mobile, which is available to all StarHub TV subscribers and StarHub Mobile post-paid subscribers respectively while LionsXII matches will also be available on Internet TV (accessible on tv.starhub.com).

Starhub chief operating officer Tan Tong Hai said as a passionate home-grown supporter of local football, "we want to cement our commitment to the cause with this broadcast and sponsorship deal."

"With our LionsXII coverage bringing the fans as close to the action as possible, fans will be able to kick every ball and make every tackle with the team," he said at a press briefing here Thursday.

For the opening M-League match against Kelantan, 'live' screenings will be held simultaneously at PA Lawn opposite Jalan Besar Stadium, Nex shopping mall and Lot One.

MediaCorp Channel 5 will be screening one match per month, for a total of seven 'live' MSL home matches and up to four Malaysia Cup matches. Screening of the Malaysia Cup matches is subject to LionsXII's progress as the four matches are the opening match, two semi-final matches and the final.

SuperSports Arena is a complimentary sports channel available to all StarHub TV customers.
