Johor FC signs two Brazilians players

Johor FC have settled for another pair of Brazilians -- a central defender and a striker -- to re-launch their stuttering start to the Super League.

Team manager Wan Nizam Wan Omar said central defender Fernando  Ferreira, 27, could take the field against Felda United at the Pasir Gudang Stadium today  if the player's International Transfer Certificate arrives in time.

Ferreira, who stands at 1.85m, started his playing  career with the Sao Paulo youth academy before moving to Europe to join Portuguese giants FC Porto. He later played for Atletico Madrid B, Racing Santander, Olympija Ljublana and Olympiakos Nicosia. His last club was IFK Marieham (Finland).

Striker Arthuro  Barnhardt , 29, who arrived late on Monday,  played for Steau Bucharest, Celta Viga, Racing Santander, Sporting Gijon, Middlesbrough and the Bayern Munich youth team.

Johor FC hope Barnhardt will be available for the away match against Kuala Lumpur at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca on Saturday.

Coach K. Devan has given the nod to sign  the duo  because of their good credentials. Both hold Italian citizenship.

"We had a bad experience at the start of the season when both our foreign signings were rejected by the FA of Malaysia as they did not adhere to Fifa's ruling on foreigners who want to play  in Malaysia," said Wan Nizam.

He  was referring to Brazilians Tito Da Silva Pinto (striker) and Tiago  Leal (midfielder) who were  ruled "ineligible" to play.
