Striker Ahmad Shakir Ali saved the blushes for Malaysian football team when he scored a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with the Philippines 1-1 in a friendly at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila last night.
Denis Wolf scored for the home side in the 35th minute before Negri Sembilan striker Ahmad found the net in stoppage time.
The Malaysian team, under coach Datuk K. Rajagopal, are preparing for the Suzuki Cup Asean Football Federation (AFF) Championships in November, In earlier friendlies this year, the national side defeated Kelantan (5-0) and Sabah (1-0).
