Felda United to get own stadium

The Felda United football  team is to have its own stadium, which will be built in this town formerly known as Bandar Pusat Jengka.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who has personally taken charge of Felda, said the stadium would be built at a cost of RM87.9 million.

Felda United is playing in the Super League and does not have a home stadium.

"The RM87.9 million cost of building the stadium comes from the RM250-million allocation for integrated development projects in Bandar Tun Abdul Razak," he said when launching Settlers Day 2011, here.

Najib, who closely follows Felda United's matches in the Super League, said he hoped that the team would have the undivided support of fans from among settlers living in the Jengka and Mempaga areas.

"Although Felda United was thrashed 6-2 by Terengganu (in a Super League match) recently, I believe that having an own stadium will enable Felda United to go far," he said.

It is learnt that the stadium will be ready in three years.
