Kelantan are Super League champions

KELANTAN clinched their first Super League title after Norshahrul Idlan Talaha scored twice to ease the Malaysia Cup holders to a 2-1 win over Sabah in Kota Kinabalu yesterday. On a night which saw fallen giants Pahang join Perlis in being relegated to the Premier League, Selangor were deposed as champions after being held 0-0 by Perak in Ipoh while Abdul Hadi Yahya denied Norshahrul individual honours when he finished as the league's top scorer after his four goals in Terengganu's 6-2 win over Felda United took his tally to 20 goals.

A draw would have been enough for Kelantan at the Likas Stadium to finish top of the table but Norshahrul eased any lingering nerves as early as the seventh minute when he pounced on Badhri Radzi's flicked header and stabbed the ball past Sabah goalkeeper Azizon Kadir.

Norshahrul then set Kelantan on their way when he made it 2-0 in the 71st minute when he curled the ball in from outside the penalty box with his left foot for his 19th league goal and even Razlan Oto's consolation for Sabah six minutes later could not dampen the celebrations of the travelling party.
Selangor, champions the last two years, failed to trouble Perak and left the Perak Stadium with their heads hung low having slipped to third place.

Perak should have scored several times with Noor Hazrul Mustafa's first half stoppage time free-kick forcing Selangor goalkeeper Iqbal Suhaimi into a crucial save before young Perak striker Shazuan Ashraf Matthews twice squandered golden opportunities.

FA Cup champions Terengganu hit Felda United for half-dozen in Petaling Jaya to finish second as Hadi plundered four goals in the 22nd, 43rd, 70th and 85th minutes after Reeshafiq Alwi (17th) and Manaf Mamat (18th) scored in quick succession to put Terengganu 2-0 ahead.

Kedah won 1-0 in Kuantan as Baddrol Bakhtiar's 71st minute strike condemned Pahang to relegation for the second time in three years although they were given a late reprieve by the FA of Malaysia in 2009.

It also meant Kuala Lumpur will remain in the Super League after claiming the last Malaysia Cup spot available when they beat T-Team 3-2 in Kuala Terengganu through a Badrul Hisyam hat-trick.
