Pahang manager slams poor display against Sime Darby

A SHAMBOLIC second half against Sime Darby FC at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday saw Pahang suffer an embarrassing 4-0 defeat in the first-leg of the Malaysia Cup playoff.

No thanks to their pathetic display, the players have a mountain to climb when they entertain Sime Darby in the second-leg at the Darul Makmur Stadium today as only a clear five-goal margin win will see them through.

An upset team manager Datuk Che Nasir Salleh slammed his squad for their performance describing them as a group of "schoolboys" who had tarnished the reputation of the state team.

"We were supposed to win or at least draw away from home, instead we were hammered by a club side," said Che Nasir.

"Our players looked lost on the pitch and were not sure what they were doing. They allowed the opponents to control the game. The second half display was the worst this season."

After a goalless first half, Che Nasir said he was expecting Pahang to score, especially after a tactical change but the players succumbed to pressure and failed to score.

"We did create several chances but the strikers failed to convert and after the home team scored the opener, our players seemed not keen to get back into the match," added Che Nasir.

"There is the second leg and another 90 minutes to play but to score five goals is just too much."
