Perak FA rejects team manager's resignation

The Perak Football Association (PAFA) had rejected the resignation of team manager Khairul Azwan Harun on July 7.

President Datuk Zainol Padzi Paharuddin said it had asked Khairul Azwan to continue leading Perak in the Malaysia Cup competition starting on Sept 9.

"PAFA feels that he has not failed although Perak did not finish among the top five teams in the Super League competition.

In fact, Perak has climbed up the ladder from bottom of the table last season," he told reporters here today.

Khairul Azwan who became team manager in Nov 2010 resigned after Perak finished sixth in Super League collecting 40 points from 10 wins, 10 draws and 6 defeats.

He had promised to resign as team manager if Perak failed to become the top five teams in the Super League competition.

In another development, Zainol Padzi said PAFA had decided to select four  of the nine players called up to face the Malaysia Cup challenge.

"They will fill the striking, attacking midfielder and wing positions. We don't have a problem in midfield and defence as the existing players are good.

"The players are from teams that failed to progress to the Malaysia Cup competition.

He said PAFA will get approval of their employers before offering the players contracts expected by this weekend.
