Perak manager resigns after team's failure

Perak  football team manager Khairul Azwan Harun stayed true to his words by quitting the post after the team failed to achieve a top five finish in the Super League competition.

 Perak finished in sixth place in the league after a 0-0 draw against Selangor in their final fixture of the season last night.

 Khairul said although he had decided to quit his post as the team manager, he would continue to serve the team and association in aspects like financial management and team performance.

 "I must take the responsibility for the failure of the team to achieve the target I had set although we have managed to finish sixth," he said in a statement here Thursday.

 Khairul who is also the Perak FA treasurer said assistant team manager Ahmad Shahrul Azhar would temporarily assume the role of manager for the Malaysia Cup competition.
