As for Malaysia's coach, Datuk K. Rajagobal, the match against Liverpool FC was a satisfying match despites some hiccups in their defence.
"Their (the Malaysian players) game have improved. I have told the players to play a bit more aggresive. We watched a little bit of the Liverpool-Guandong Sunray Cave match (in Guangzhou, China).
"I don't mind about the scoreline because we were playing with a top football club. Always lingering in my mind was our match against Singapore (the World Cup qualifying match on July 23)," said Rajagobal.
Rajagobal added that with the result against Liverpool, he already had an idea of players that he would be fielding for the World Cup 2014 second round qualifying match against Singapore.
"I take the result as a positive score. Sometimes the defence was very sloopy, so that is why I made some changes.
"I want my players to be fresh for the Singapore match. This was the best test for the players in their preparation for the match," he added.
Malaysia advanced to the second round of the 2014 World Cup Asian Zone Qualifier despite losing 2-3 to Taiwan in the return leg of the first round qualifier in Taipei on July 3.
Having won the first leg 2-1 here on June 29, the aggregate ended up 4-4 but Malaysia qualified on the away-goal rule.
Malaysia will play Singapore next in the city-state on July 23 with the return leg scheduled for July 29 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil here.
