Sarawak players and officials get bonus

The Football Association of  Sarawak (FAS) have decided to reward the players and officials of the state team which emerged Premier League runner-up with a bonus which is expected to be handed out this month.

FAS secretary-general Abdullah Julaihi said the team management agreed to equally distribute the bonus to the team after winning RM100,000 for securing the second place in the league.
"We will set aside about 80 per cent from the RM100,000 and the rest, or 20 per cent, will be utilised for other matters related to football management," he told a news conference here today.

Selangor PKNS won the Premier League with 57 points while Sarawak were second with 48 points. The Premier League winner gets RM200,000 and the runner-up, RM100,000. The two teams get an automatic promotion to the Super League.

Abdullah said that for the Malaysia Cup competition that would be held at the end of the year, Sarawak would be playing night matches again at the 20,000-seat State Stadium.
"We will kickstart our preparation this month by looking for new homegrown talents with a statewide tour from July 14 to July 24," he said.

He said the tour would cover Betong (July 14), Sibu (July 15 and 16), Kapit (July 17 and 18), Mukah (July 19 and 20), Bintulu (July 21 and 22) and Miri (July 23 and 24).
He said the search would continue in September and October, focusing on identifying new talents from Kuching and Samarahan.
"Our policy is to nurture our homegrown talents which have the potential to excel in competitive football at the national level," he said.
