The towering striker, who stands at 1.92m (6ft 4in) is full of confidence and has said he will deliver for the Lions when they open their Asian Zone World Cup second round qualifying match against Malaysia in the first-leg match at the Jalan Besar Stadium here today (7.30pm).
“Age is just a number and I know what’s my job.
“Football is my love and I have made the sacrifices for what I am today. One has to be disciplined and football is a team game and without the support of the team-mates, the job cannot be done. I organise myself well and will carry out the job entrusted to me by my coach,” said Duric after a training session yesterday.
It is obvious Singapore coach Radojko Avramovic has full confidence in his scoring machine, who has scored 16 goals in 35 appearances with the national team since 2007.
The Yugoslav-born Duric was an instant hit when he scored a brace in his debut with Singapore (2-0) at the last Asian Zone World Cup qualifiers against Tajikistan in 2007.
For the record, Duric also scored a brace in the Republic’s last meeting with Malaysia, which ended in a 2-2 draw in 2008.
