Kedah want to re-sign foreign players

Kedah are looking at  hiring ex-imports  Nelson Sam Martin and Marlon Alex James for the 2012 Malaysian League season.

FA of Kedah honorary-secretary Dr Hamdan Mohamed Khalib said Martin, a midfielder, and James, a striker, had responded positively to be in action for the state for the 2012 season.

"The duo are much loved by Kedah fans. In fact, in their e-email response, Martin said "I like your king (the Kedah Sultan) very much and I want to play for him while Marlon's response was "I love Kedah"," he told reporters when met at an Aidilfitri open house in Tanjong Dawai near here Thursday.

He said hiring James posed no problems but there were some hiccups in the case of Martin, as the latter did not meet the FA of Malaysia's (FAM) cooling off period requirements whereby imported players must not have played in Indonesia, Thailand or Singapore in the last two years.

However, he said the FA of Kedah would be appealing the matter to the FAM.

FAM has lifted its freeze on foreign imports for the 2012 season but limits imports to maximum two players.
