Defending champions Kelantan are going to take out all their frustration on lowly Sarawak in the Malaysia Cup competition at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru tomorrow.
The Red Warriors were surprisingly beaten by club side Felda United 2-0 in an away match on Tuesday. It was their first defeat since losing 2-1 to T-Team in a Super League match on May 25 and it cost them the leadership in Group C. Felda United are now leaders on nine points followed by Kelantan on six. Johor FC are third on three points while Sarawak have yet to win a point after three matches.
Kelantan centreback S. Subramaniam said the loss was a timely wake-up call.
“It is a good lesson for us. We must not be too complacent in our approach. We have to push harder because the other teams are making progress,” said the former international yesterday.
“We did not expect Felda United to rise to the occasion, having won all our four head-to-head meetings this season. It came as a surprise.
“Now we hope to make amends against Sarawak. We are going all out to get a win and regain the lead,” said Subramaniam.
Kelantan, under coach M. Karathu, are eager to add the Malaysia Cup to their collection after having won the Super League and Charity Shield this season.
