T-Team beats Selangor again while Negeri Sembilan upset by PKNS

Minnows T-Team toppled Selangor 2-1 with two late goals in a Group D match at the Shah Alam Stadium last night to send the Red Giants closer to the Malaysia Cup exit door.

Zairo Anuar Zailani scored the winner for T-Team in the 85th minute. Earlier, skipper Mohd Amri Yahyah had given Selangor the lead in the 14th minute but midfielder Mohd Norfarhan Mohd equalised for T-Team in the 83rd minute.

The odds are stacked against Selangor making the quarter-finals as they must now win both their remaining fixtures against Kuala Lumpur and Police. T-team now top the group with nine points followed by KL on eight points.

Selangor are third on four points while Police have only a single point. KL and T-Team need only to win one of their two matches to make the last eight.

It was an embarrassing night for Selangor as it was the fourth time they were beaten by T-Team this season.

The Giants were beaten 2-0 and 2-1 in the Super League and 1-0 in the first leg of the Malaysia Cup in Kuala Terengganu.

High-riding Negri Sembilan also had a night to forget.

They were convincingly beaten 2-0 by Premier League champions PKNS FC in a Group B match at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi. The Deer would have been the first team to reach the quarter-finals if they had beaten PKNS.

Negri could have grabbed the lead in the first half but midfielder Shahurain Abu Samah failed to convert a penalty in stoppage time.

Mohamad Norhisham Hassan’s header in the 49th minute and Mohd Fauzan Dzulkifli’s effort in the 59th minute secured full points for PKNS, who were beaten 2-1 by Negri on Sept 6.

Despite the defeat, Negri still lead with nine points on a better goal difference over Terengganu.
The east coast side edged Sime Darby FC 1-0 at the Sultan Ismail Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

The Turtles scored through Mohd Ashaari Samsuddin in the 33rd minute after some nifty touches inside the penalty box. Terengganu could have won by a bigger margin if they had converted the numerous chances that came their way.
