Malaysian team to leave for Kuala Lumpur immediately after SEA Games final

A plane has been chartered to fly the national football team home from Jakarta tonight – immediately after the final against Indonesia.

This is because the team have another assignment on Wednesday – an Asian zone final round London Olympics qualifying match against Syria at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said that the Cabinet had endorsed the special chartered flight for the national team.

“The national players are tired after playing three matches in six days and they need to rest for two days before taking on Syria,” he said.

“The players are expected to leave for KL after the final match at about 11.30pm tomorrow (tonight).”
