The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will not extend the Thursday (Dec 8) dateline for the registration of team players involved in the M-League next season.
FAM Secretary-general Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad said if the dateline was extended, it would create problems to the secretariat to prepare the match schedule, referees, accreditation cards, etc.
Azzuddin the FAM had given teams enough time to prepare their respective teams for the league.
"Associations and clubs need to improve their professionalism in terms of management and administration so as to fulfill the obligations, expectations and task given to them," he told reporters at Wisma FAM after witnessing a signing ceremony between FAM and Sanofi Pasteur, a vaccine supplier.
He was commenting on requests made by a number of states to extend the registration of players.
Azzuddin said if teams failed to submit their full list of players by the dateline on Thursday, action may be taken against them and if they failed to register their import players by Thursday, they would have to wait for the second window for registration that would be opened from April 6-20.
Meanwhile, the FAM also hopes to raise the standard of the FAM-Felda National Futsal League to a five star status tournament.
FAM deputy chairman of the Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee Datuk Dr Hamdan Mohamed Khalid said the league would be upgraded in stages according to the guidelines set by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
"Starting next year we will introduce a new play format set by the AFC. The changes will provide an opportunity for players to feature in the AFC Futsal Championship," said Dr Hamdan.
