Olympic squad to concentrate on attack during Australia friendlies

National Under-23 football coach Ong Kim Swee will work on sharpening his strikeforce during the team’s three-match playing tour of Australia starting today.

The team will play Australian League sides Sydney FC (Dec 13), Central Coast Mariners (Dec 15) and Newcastle Jets (Dec 19) in Sydney.

Kim Swee has listed 13 midfielders and strikers in the 23-man squad.

Striker Mohd Izuan Solahuddin, Ahmad Hazwan Bakri and D. Saarvindran who rarely featured for the team last season are expected to get more play time to prove themselves.

The team will return to Malaysia on Dec 20 and get ready for the remaining Asian Zone Olympic final round qualifying matches and an outing in the Singapore League scheduled to kick off on Feb 10.

Kim Swee, who initially called-up 36 players for the training camp on Monday, will pick 30 players to make the Harimau Muda squad to compete in the S-League.
