The Terengganu FA have confirmed the signing of Liberian Francis Forkey Doe and Brazilian Erison Da Silva Santos Carnietto for the new Super League season.
The Turtles were earlier linked with the much-touted Mohamadu Suamareh of Gambia and Bercio Nunes Machado of Brazil.
Terengganu FA president Datuk Che Mat Jusoh said FAM’s Jan 9 deadline for the team to make a final decision on their foreign players caused them to rethink their choice.
“We have decided to withdraw the registration of Mohamadu Suamareh while Machado was not eligible in the first place,” he said after a sponsorship ceremony for the team here yesterday.
“Thus, I can confirm that our foreign pros for the new season are Doe and Carnietto.
Che Mat also expressed confidence that both the imported players would be able to help propel the team to greater heights this year.
“We won the FA Cup last season, so we hope that the addition of the two foreign players will lead to us winning more trophies this season,” he said.
Doe, 26, is a striker who previously played for Ah-Ahly in the Egyptian League as well as New York Red Bulls and DC United in the American Major League Soccer.
Midfielder Carnietto, 30, last featured for Slavia Sofia in the Bulgarian League.
