National coach Datuk K. Rajagobal has called up 27 players, including the much touted Pelita Jaya FC player Safee Sali who plays in the beleaguered Indonesian Super League (ISL), for a series of friendly matches.
The ISL has been banned by FIFA, raising questions of Safee's status to represent the country in international matches, friendly or competition.
The squad will start routine training at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya starting Sunday and head to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Feb 23, to continue their training before facing Sabah at the Likas Stadium on Feb 24.
"The squad will leave to Manila on Feb 27, and play against the Philippines squad on Feb 29, at the Rizal Memorial and Track Stadium," said the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) in a statement Tuesday.
