Terengganu will take on Kedah in an afternoon kick-off today as the lights at Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu are no longer bright enough for night matches.
Terengganu FA deputy president Shaikh Ahmad Tajuddin Shaikh Yusoff said some of the illumination level readings, recorded by the match commissioner for the the T-Team -- Perak match at the stadium on Saturday, were as low as 500 lux.
"That is about 300 units lower than the minimum requirement of 800 lux for a night match to be playable at the stadium.
"I am told that efforts to fix the lighting are being made but chances are our match against Kedah will kick off at 4.45 in the afternoon instead of 8.45 at night," he said when contacted yesterday.
Shaikh Ahmad said the association is not directly involved in the maintenance of the stadium as it falls under the jurisdiction of Kuala Terengganu City Council (KTCC).
KTCC corporate, community and quality department director Mohd Huzairil Nizam Ibrahim said the afternoon kick-off is unavoidable as it will not be easy to improve the lux reading from 500 to 800 at a moment's notice.
"The lighting system was only completed last month and it is still under the care of the Public Works Department and not ours just yet," he said.
