FAM vows to improve security at stadiums

The FA of Malaysia has promised improvement in manning and regulating stadium security.
FA of Malaysia vice president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said the association is looking at options to eradicate security problems at league venues.

"We have a mechanism but it needs to be improvised. Stadium security should improve in two or three months," said Hamidin, after chairing the local competition committee meeting at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya, yesterday.

"Fireworks are banned from stadiums but somehow fans smuggle them in. We need to find ways to solve this issue."

"We are also looking at setting a standard price for tickets to avoid fans from encroaching into other sections of stadiums."

FAM made headlines of late for failing to stop fans from committing offences.

Last month, Fifa slapped FAM with fines amounting to RM15,820 in relation to the pre-World Cup round two return-leg match between Malaysia and Singapore at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on July 28.

The association breached several regulations of the Fifa Disciplinary Code.

Hamidin said the Malaysia Cup final on Oct 29 could be played at Shah Alam Stadium if the venue is repaired on time.

"The National Stadium in Bukit Jalil is closed for repairs. Our alternative venue is Shah Alam Stadium but the stadium seats, pitch and floodlights are not up to regulation.

"We have appealed to the Shah Alam City Council to get the stadium ready by Oct 22."

On next season's M-League, Hamidin said all teams must submit their registration forms before the Oct 31 deadline.

"Except for Selangor, the rest have not submitted their forms. Action will be taken against teams who fail to submit completed documents by then," he said.
