Midfielder Abdul Manaf, a member of the victorious 2009 Sea Games squad in Laos, is the second-highest scorer for Terengganu after Abdul Hadi Yahya with 15 goals.
A delighted Terengganu coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim said his team were determined and eager to stop Kelantan's hope of retaining the Malaysia Cup.
"We played a patient game and successfully held off the Kelantan strikers. We scored two goals from Kelantan's eagerness to attack without defending," he said.
"I thank Manaf for playing today (Friday). I wanted Manaf to rest but he was eager to play. Anyway his decision turned out to be an important one as he played an instrumental role."
On Terengganu's victory, Irfan Bakti said he knew his team would win after they took a 2-0 lead at half time.
"However, Kelantan returned strongly after the break and scored twice from our defensive mistakes. We need to work harder in training to solve our defensive woes before playing Selangor (semi-finals).
"We are now the best team in the East Coast. Kelantan did better in the Super League but we denied them in the FA Cup final and this time in the Malaysia Cup," he added.
Kelantan FA president Tan Sri Anuar Musa said Terengganu played a better game.
"I am happy with our performance but we could not do much as Terengganu played well. We will start preparing for the new season as soon as possible. In due time, I will officially announce next season's squad," said Anuar, adding that M. Karathu's position as head coach for next season will be decided by the association soon.
