Bardhan Cup : Putajaya upset Selangor to enter Final

Putrajaya edged Selangor 4-3 on penalty kicks to enter the final of the Bardhan Cup football tournament.

Both teams were tied 2-2 on aggregate before Putrajaya won the shootout at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium on Wednesday.

Putrajaya will now meet the winner of the other semi-final between Kuala Lumpur and Armed Forces.

Kuala Lumpur are in the driver’s seat after winning the first-leg 3-1 last week. The return-leg is scheduled at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium on Sunday (4.15pm). The final will be held at the same venue on Sept 18 (8pm).

Bardhan Cup : Defending Champions Penang fails to enter semi finals

Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Armed Forces and Selangor have qualified for the semi-finals of the 54th Bardhan Cup football tournament.

In the last round of group matches played yesterday, K. Lumpur thrashed Malacca 7-1 to clinch their ticket for the last four while the soldiers edged Perak 3-2 and Putrajaya downed Police 1-0.

Defending champions Penang failed to make the cut despite beating Kedah 2-0 in their last match.

In the semi-finals, Selangor will face Putrajaya while Armed Forces take on Kuala Lumpur. The first-leg matches are scheduled on Aug 27 and the return leg on Sept 3.
